Where should I place my skates on my mouse?
Dot mouse skates give you more control over how your mouse feels, but that flexibility can also make placement a bit confusing at first. Unlike standard skates, there isn’t a fixed layout, it comes down to finding what works best for your mouse and playstyle.
A good starting point is to keep things balanced. One of the most common setups is a simple 3-by-3 style layout: three dots across the top area and three across the bottom. For each section, place one on the left, one in the center, and one on the right. This helps distribute pressure evenly and keeps your glide smooth and stable.
Because dot skates have less surface contact than traditional mouse feet, they naturally feel faster. If your mouse starts to feel too quick or hard to control, you can adjust by adding more dots. Increasing the number of contact points slightly slows things down and gives you more control.
That’s the advantage of dot skates, you can fine-tune everything. Placement and quantity both affect speed, stability, and overall feel. Whether you want a fast, low-friction glide or something more controlled, small adjustments can make a noticeable difference.
There’s no single “perfect” setup, it’s all about experimenting. Try different layouts, test how it feels, and dial it in until it matches exactly how you want your mouse to perform.
